American Airlines Unveils Special Flagship Livery Ahead of Centennial

American Airlines is gearing up for its centennial celebration in 2026 and the Fort Worth based carrier has just unveiled a new ‘Flagship’ livery as part of the celebration.

American Will Paint a Boeing 777 in the Flagship Colors

Next month, American will debut a special livery that will adorn one of its Boeing 777-300s. The jet, registered as N735AT, will get the special Flagship livery which blends one of the airline’s original liveries with some modern touches. The aircraft will also feature American’s new, updated interior.

Ron DeFeo, American’s Chief Communications Officer, said this about the Flagship livery:

“American has thoughtfully chosen a design that evokes our rich history while looking ahead to our next 100 years. Throughout American’s history, ‘Flagship’ has always been recognized as our premium travel experience. Our renewed focus on the customer experience is making premium travel better than ever across all aspects of our customers’ travel journeys. Painting the original Flagship design on our Flagship aircraft is a powerful way to honor that legacy while embracing the future.”

The plane has not yet entered the paint shop but it expected to do so in the coming weeks. The new livery will take to the skies in November ahead of American’s centennial in 2026.

About the Flagship Livery

The base of the Flagship aircraft’s paint job will be Silver Eagle, which is currently found on more than 1,600 aircraft in American’s mainline and regional fleet. An orange lightning bolt, a symbol the carrier first used nearly 90 years ago on the Douglas DC-3, adorns both sided of the fuselage. At the rear of the aircraft, passengers will see a roundel featuring one of the most recognizable symbols from American’s history: the eagle connecting the world.

The Flagship livery first appeared on American’s fleet of Douglas DC-3s.

Like the carrier’s DC-3 fleet, which were named based on cities the airline served at the time, American will name this aircraft “Flagship DFW” as an homage to the airline’s home and largest hub.

Summary

American Airlines will paint one of its Boeing 777-300ERs in a special ‘Flagship’ livery in advance of the airline’s centennial celebrations. The aircraft, registration N735AT, will make its debut in the new livery in November 2025.
