Is Silver Airways Making a Comeback?

Silver Airways was an all-turboprop airline headquartered in Florida that was forced to cease operations last month after failing to reorganize under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Now, it appears that there has been a development on the fate of the airline’s assets.

Silver Airways May Return Under a New Brand

According to Ishrion Aviation, Argentum Acquisition Company, which bought Silver Airways’ assets, is planning to restart operations with one ATR aircraft and plans to expand to a second aircraft in the future. The company had eight aircraft at the time it ceased operations.

Routes would either consist of old Silver airways routes between Florida and the Caribbean, as the company has indicated it plans to launch international flights, or the planes could be used for service in Alaska (Argentum Acquisition Company is owned by Via Acquisitions which also owns Sterling Aviation which operates flights under the Aleutian Airways brand).

This is certainly an interesting development and makes me wonder whether the Silver Airways brand will be retained; argentum means silver in Latin.

Argentum Didn’t Expect Silver to Cease Operations

While the cessation of operations didn’t come as a surprise to me given the operational issues we’d seen from the airline, it apparently came as a surprise to Argentum. Silver Airways ceased operations on June 11, 2025 and the Asset Purchase Agreement was approved by the Bankruptcy Court on June 18, 2025.

In a filing to restart service, Argentum notes that it anticipated Silver would continue operations to allow for a smooth transfer of assets. This indicates that the new owner intended to continue service.

Argentum is arguing that the “sudden termination of service warrants Argentum’s request for authority to resume operations with the assets and business it acquired pursuant to the Court’s sale order and the APA.” Based on this, we could see bright pink turboprops taking to the skies over Florida in the near future.

Summary

Silver Airways appears poised for a comeback after its assets were purchased by another airline. The new owner intends to restart operations with a single ATR turboprop and plans to expand in the future. It will be interesting to see where this goes and what brand the flights operate under.
