St. Regis Opens its First Location in the Dominican Republic

The new resort is located in the exclusive enclave of Cap Cana, a short, 20 minute, drive from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). The property has been designed to blend the timeless luxury one expects from The St. Regis brand with the warmth and soul of the Dominican Republic.

George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, said this about the new property:

“We are thrilled to debut The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, bringing the timeless elegance of St. Regis to the Dominican Republic for the first time. Set along the pristine shores of Cap Cana, this glamorous new hideaway embraces the island’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture while offering the brand’s signature sophistication, bespoke service, and timeless rituals that have defined St. Regis for over 120 years. As we continue to expand into the world’s most coveted leisure destinations — with plans to double our resort portfolio over the next decade — The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort exemplifies our vision of creating exquisite escapes that blend tradition with contemporary refinement for global travelers and locals alike.”

According to the press release, the resort design draws inspiration from the lush palm-lined beaches, dramatic cliffs, and vibrant energy that define the surrounding land.

The St. Regis Cap Cana Guest Rooms

The property has 200 guest rooms, including 36 suites with direct plunge pool access. All rooms on property feature sweeping ocean views. Guest rooms have been designed to echo the surrounding environment and have been outfitted with bespoke furnishings, natural textures, and a soft color palette inspired by the ocean and sand.

There is also a massive Presidential Suite on property which, at over 6,500 square feet, is larger than most homes in the United States. The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort promises that this space will provide an unrivaled luxury experience.

The St. Regis Cap Cana Food & Beverage

The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort has a whopping nine food and beverage outlets on property, including the resort’s flagship, Nina Restaurant. Fire is the primary element at Nina, a name translated from “ember,” “candle,” or “fire” in Quechua, the indigenous language spoken in the Andean region of South America. It will offer grilled selections and chilled dishes from award-winning Peruvian Chef Diego Muñoz. The Uma Wine Cellar Room offers a private dining experience with a bespoke menu curated by Chef Muñoz.

While the style and design of St. Regis properties can differ around the world, one constant that remains is The St. Regis Bar and its traditional champagne sabering ritual. This iteration embodies Dominican culture with modern elegance, offering omakase-style bar bites, a caviar ritual, and the resort’s signature Bloody Mary. The “Quisqueya Mary,” is inspired by a local Dominican dish and crafted with the property’s own island-made light rum, in-house spice mix, and infused with fried plantain.

If you’re a fan of cigars and whisky, The Amber Room is a luxurious lounge space offering a premium selection of rum, cognac, and whiskey, complemented by smokey cocktails and sophisticated Latin-inspired bites such as empanadas, caviar, and jamón. It also has a walk-in humidor and the expertise of a cigar sommelier and “rummilier,” guests can enjoy perfectly paired cigars and rum, enhanced by stylish cigar holders.

Cassava, is the resort’s Latin American-inspired restaurant, which provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an inviting space. Weekend brunch is also offered here.

The rooftop bar, Cielo Mio, offers guests an upscale coastal-inspired ambiance with breathtaking views paired with refined Mexican and Latin cuisine. If you’re looking for Mediterranean flavors, Marola Mediterranean Grill offers an array of grilled seafood, meats, and classic dishes, perfect for poolside or beachside dining.

Kawa Coffee Shop provides guests a grab-and-go option with locally sourced cacao-based treats and artisanal pastries, while El Huerto serves as a versatile pop-up venue hosting plant-based dining experiences, guest chef events, and interactive tastings.

Finally, Carey Bay, the resort’s exclusive beach bar, offers fresh Caribbean-inspired cocktails and light, flavorful dishes, delivered directly to guests.

The St. Regis Cap Cana Amenities

On the amenities front, the property doesn’t disappoint. The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort features four swimming pools, which includes adults only and family-friendly areas designed for guests of all ages. The property also features Children and Teens Clubs, which promises cultural and educational experiences to bring Dominican Republic’s rich heritage to life.

The spa is outfitted with 14 treatment rooms and offers curated experiences designed to help guests relax and reinvigorate themselves. According to the property, it offers indulgent treatments rooted in ancient traditions and enhanced by locally sourced ingredients, offering a sensory escape for both mind and body. For those looking to stay active, a state-of-the-art fitness center is also located onsite.

For guests looking to go off-property, the resort is located close to the Punta Espada Golf Course, a Jack Nicklaus signature course, which offers a challenging design. Cap Cana’s top attractions are also nearby, like the Marina Cap Cana, Scape Park, and Los Establos Equestrian Center.

My Thoughts

I’ve only had the opportunity to stay at one St. Regis, but this one looks absolutely stunning. I wish we were given more photos in the press release because there is so much of the property that I want to see more of. However, a visit here is likely a long ways away given all of the other destinations I’d like to visit. The starting rate of $899/night certainly doesn’t help but, if the opportunity presented itself, I’d love to make a trip to the property.

Summary

The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort has just opened in the Dominican Republic. The 200 room property features nine food and beverage options as well as four swimming pools among other amenities. It is the first St. Regis in the country and is located a short drive from the Punta Cana International Airport.
