What to Expect in the Lounge

According to American, the Philadelphia Flagship Lounge will be “more than just another airport lounge” going as far as to refer to it as “an experience”. With how chaotic the Philadelphia airport is, anything will be a welcome respite, especially for premium passengers.

While details are still scarce on some of the major elements of the design, American has indicated that the new Flagship Lounge in Philadelphia will have a unique element when compared to other Flagship lounges. Philadelphia will be the first Flagship Lounge with a full-service bar.

When I first saw that I assumed I misread the press release but, based on my prior visits, I can’t recall ever seeing a full bar in a Flagship Lounge. I found this odd, especially considering lower tier Admirals Clubs have full bars. This should help with the overall passenger experience.

On the dining front, American is partnering with James Beard Award Semifinalist Chef Randy Rucker on a menu that blends his signature contemporary coastal cuisine with Philadelphia’s historic culinary flavor. Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, said this:

“Across all of our lounges, American is committed to serving customers regionally inspired chef-driven cuisine, with menu updates throughout the year to offer new choices each season. Now, with Chef Rucker at the helm, the Philadelphia Flagship lounge is set to become one of the most exciting culinary additions to the airport scene.”

Rucker added:

“Representing this incredible city and its rich culinary heritage is a privilege. I am honored to be the Philadelphia Flagship lounge Chef and to partner with American on providing travelers with a memorable dining experience that reflects the spirit of this city.”

The new Flagship Lounge Philadelphia will be located on Concourse A between Gates A15 and A16. No exact date or operating hours have been provided for the lounge at this time.
