In addition to launching international flights from Austin, Delta Air Lines is expanding its international route network even further with new routes to Morocco and Ghana.

The Atlanta based carrier will expand its route network in Africa by adding new flights from it’s hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Marrakech, Morocco, and Accra, Ghana. Marrakech marks a new destination for the airline while the Accra service will compliment its existing route between Accra and New York-JFK.
Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, had this to say about the new routes:
“Delta’s new service to Marrakech and added flights to Accra strengthen our presence in Africa, offering more opportunities for customers to enjoy our award-winning service and premium onboard experience. Whether discovering Morocco or reconnecting with loved ones in Ghana, these routes enhance our network while reinforcing Atlanta’s role as the world’s largest global hub.”
Marrakech is Added to Delta’s Route Map
Delta’s new service between Atlanta and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) will operate 3x weekly using Boeing 767-400 aircraft. Delta’s 767-400s are outfitted with 34 Delta One Business Class seats, 20 Delta Premium Select Premium Economy seats, 28 Delta Comfort+ Extra Legroom Economy seats, and 156 Main Cabin Economy seats.
Flights are scheduled to begin on October 25, 2025 and are blocked at 7 hours and 10 minutes eastbound and 11 hours and 5 minutes westbound. Flights will operate eastbound on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and westbound on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Flights will operate on the following schedule:
Flight | Departs | Arrives |
---|---|---|
DL186 (ATL-RAK) | 7:45p | 7:55a (+1) |
DL187 (RAK-ATL) | 10:50p | 3:55p |
In the airline’s announcement there is no word on whether this will be seasonal or year round service. Delta may be waiting to see the demand on the route before announcing seasonality.
Accra Sees Additional Service
In addition to the launch of service to Morocco, Delta is also adding a second route between the United States and Accra, Ghana. The new service from Atlanta to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) will operate winter seasonal service 1x daily using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft outfitted with 29 Delta One Business Class seats, 28 Delta Premium Select Premium Economy seats, 56 Delta Comfort+ Extra Legroom Economy seats, and 168 Main Cabin Economy seats.
This new route will compliment Delta’s existing service between Accra and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Though Delta’s press release says flights are scheduled to begin on December 1, 2025, flights appear scheduled to begin on December 2, 2025 and are blocked at 10 hours and 30 minutes eastbound and 12 hours and 50 minutes westbound.
Flights will operate on the following schedule:
Flight | Departs | Arrives |
---|---|---|
DL178 (ATL-ACC) | 5:55p | 9:25a (+1) |
DL179 (ACC-ATL) | 11:35a | 7:25p |
Delta has not given any indication of when it will suspend the seasonal service between Atlanta and Accra.
Summary
Delta is adding two new routes and a new destination to its network later this year with the launch of service between its Atlanta superhub and Marrakech, Morocco and Accra, Ghana. Marrakech is a new destination for Delta, its sixth in Africa, while Accra is also served via New York-JFK year round.
Morocco has been on my radar for a while and I hope that the carrier has success on these routes.
