Delta is continuing to roll out its new, premium focused, Delta One lounge at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). The Boston location is the third Delta One lounge in the carrier’s network, following openings at New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), is designed to pay homage to Boston’s maritime history. The new lounge encompasses 6,700 square feet and is located in Concourse E.
The new Delta One Lounge is accessible through the Delta Sky Club in Concourse E, it doesn’t have a standalone entrance from the concourse. While the press release doesn’t go into detail, I would assume there will be some sort of priority lane for Delta One customers. The airline has had issues with lounge crowding in recent years and waiting in the Sky Club line doesn’t seem like a very premium experience.
Delta One Lounge guests in Boston will also get access to the Sky Club, including exclusive use of the Club living room area to the right of check-in This space has soundproof booths and second monitors for guests looking to complete any last-minute work and gives passengers access to Delta Elite Services ambassadors. Showers are also available for Delta One Lounge passengers in the Sky Club.
Claude Roussel, Delta’s Vice President – Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience, had this to say about the new Delta One Lounge in Boston:
“No two Delta One Lounges are alike – with each new space, we strive to create something truly special and distinct to the host city, while never compromising on service or quality. We know our guests value the exclusivity and hospitality of dining at a Delta One Lounge. This lounge is designed to deliver the elevated, VIP experience guests want — an experience that draws inspiration from the history and culinary traditions of Boston.”
According to Delta, the ceiling and bar shape of the lounge are a nod to the USS Constitution or “Old Ironsides,” the world’s oldest commissioned naval warship still afloat, which resides in Boston Harbor.
The lounge is adorned with leather furnishings in tan and blue hues which gives it an old school, welcoming feeling.
Based on the photos, this lounge may have the best view of any airline lounge I have ever seen. Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) is located very close to Downtown Boston and the lounge features a great view of the city and Boston Harbor. It doesn’t appear that the lounge will have any views of the ramp though.
With Boston being located on the water and having history with the seafood industry, it is no surprise that the airline leaned into a seafood heavy menu for he new lounge. Chef Ed Brown has partnered with Delta on the menu for the new lounge which features a Maine lobster roll, octopus carpaccio and cod Milanese. According to Delta, the lounge can serve a three-course meal in less than an hour.
If you’re not a fan of seafood, there are options like prime steak tartare, crispy cauliflower, steak frites, and more. Guests can cap off their meal with something sweet like a warm apple tart or a local classic, Boston cream pie.
It’s exciting to see Delta open its newest Delta One Lounge in Boston. The airline has expanded rapidly in recent years as it battles a reeling JetBlue for market share. Currently, Delta operates over 160 peak-day departures to 63 destinations worldwide, including Amsterdam, Paris, Cancun. Next summer, Delta will expand its international schedule from Boston with new routes to Barcelona and Milan as it looks to cement itself as the city’s leading global carrier.
Summary
Delta has opened its third Delta One Lounge at Boston Logan International Airport. The new lounge is unique as it is located inside the Delta Sky Club in Concourse E and doesn’t have a standalone entrance. Hopefully this doesn’t cause any issues with lounge crowding and the airline offers a dedicated lane for Delta One passengers.
