Hello Long Island: JetBlue Launches Service to Islip, NY

Its a big day for travelers on Long Island as JetBlue launched service to Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, New York. I first wrote about these flights back in July as the carrier announced a push into more New England markets and today marks the inauguration of that service.

JetBlue Launched three new routes between Florida and Long Island MacArthur Airport.

JetBlue is is flying daily from Long Island to Orlando (MCO), and 4 times weekly to West Palm Beach (PBI) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). With the new service, JetBlue becomes the fourth airline operating from the airport behind Breeze, Frontier, and Southwest.

Daniel Shurz, Head of Revenue, Network, and Enterprise Planning at JetBlue, had this to say about the new service:

“We are delighted to bring the long-awaited JetBlue experience to Long Island. These flights are a testament to JetBlue’s loyal customer base on Long Island who have frequently traveled to New York’s other airports to fly JetBlue. Customers no longer have to choose between the convenience of their local airport and the comfort, connectivity and customer service they enjoy with JetBlue.”

All JetBlue flights to and from the airport will be operated by Airbus A320 family aircraft which features free Wi-Fi and seatback in-flight entertainment. The flights operate on the following schedules:

To celebrate the new service, JetBlue has announced limited time, one way fares for as low as $59 between Long Island and Orlando and $69 flights to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. These fares are currently available for booking via JetBlue.com.

Summary

JetBlue launched service today between Long Island MacArthur Airport and three destinations in Florida. With the inauguration of service, JetBlue becomes the fourth carrier at the airport, joining Breeze, Frontier, and Southwest. While the connectivity isn’t great, with some routes operating less than daily, it will still be a better option than driving to JFK for many travelers on the island.
