There’s an old saying floating around in the south; no matter if your soul is headed to Heaven or Hell, it has to connect in Atlanta. This phrase came about as people across the southeast connected through the carrier’s massive hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Now, Delta has announced its largest ever schedule from Atlanta for Summer 2025.
For the summer of 2025, Delta will fly 1.11 million weekly seats, 968 daily flights and offer service to 215 destinations from Atlanta. This is a net gain of 75 daily flights when compared to Summer 2024.
Delta has announced a slew of new international routes, and cut some others, in recent months as they look to focus on core hubs. On the domestic front, the carrier has focused on the Peach State with 20% more intra-state seats to Savannah (SAV), Augusta (AGS), Albany (ABY), Brunswick (BQK), Columbus (CSG) and Valdosta (VLD).
One thing that all passengers should appreciate is the reduction in regional jet flying from the airport. For 2025, Delta will operate 87% of its Atlanta departures using mainline aircraft, an 8% increase from the year prior.
Thanks to upgauging aircraft, the airline expects to offer 41,000 daily premium seats which includes Delta One, First Class, Delta Premium Select and Delta Comfort+. 56 of Delta’s routes from Atlanta feature eight or more daily flights which allows travelers the flexibility to travel on their schedule.
Joe Miller, Delta’s Vice President of Airport Operations in Atlanta, had this to say about the carrier’s upcoming schedule:

As Delta continues to expand its presence in Atlanta, the carrier is investing billions of dollars in remodeling and improving the passenger experience by renovating all nine Sky Clubs in Atlanta as well as expanding Concourse D. The airline is also likely getting a boost thanks to Southwest’s decision to draw down its Atlanta focus city which it inherited via its acquisition of AirTran Airways.

Like it or not, Delta flyers will get more opportunities to fly through Atlanta this coming summer. The carrier plans to operate its largest ever flight schedule from its home airport and largest hub for Summer 2025. The expansion helps Delta solidify its position as the dominant player in the Atlanta market as other carriers like Southwest pull back due to the competition.
Hopefully the airline is able to fill these flights which will allow the the ability to expand its route network further. After all, we always need more new routes from Delta.
